Archive and restore prompts

Archive a prompt when your team no longer wants to edit or evaluate it as active work. Before archiving, review its labels, retrieval keys, and known consumers. Archiving makes the prompt read-only; it does not revoke existing retrieval access.

Archive and monitor

Use the prompt's archive action and confirm the target. Saved versions remain available to authorized retrieval requests, including applications following production. If you need to stop retrieval, revoke the relevant keys as a separate decision.

Successful retrieval of an archived prompt records activity. Review archived-use warnings to find clients that still depend on it. Inspect the key and selector context, migrate the client to its replacement, and acknowledge a warning after handling it. New matching activity can reopen a warning, so acknowledgment is not a permanent suppression.

Missing or unassigned label warnings can also reveal a client using a stale selector. Fix the label assignment or update the client instead of expecting retrieval to fall back silently.

Restore a prompt

Find the archived prompt and use Restore to make it editable again. Restoration retains its saved versions, labels, and dataset, letting you resume work on the existing prompt ID.

If a restored application still receives an authorization error, inspect its retrieval key. Restoring a prompt does not undo a separately revoked key. See retrieval troubleshooting for selector and credential errors.
